The Provincetown Banner is the award-winning weekly community newspaper serving the towns on the outer arm of Cape Cod–Provincetown, Truro, Wellfleet and Eastham.
As a community newspaper, the Banner is committed both to excellence in journalism and to the principles of putting community first, fostering tolerance, supporting the arts, encouraging economic diversity and honoring the history of this very special curl of land and sea–a place that may be small in its geography, but is huge in its embrace. First published in 1856, the Banner returned in 1995, retaining its historic motto of "Be Just and Fear Not." The Banner has garnered numerous awards for editorial content, advertising and design, including the prestigious Newspaper of the Year Award from the New England Press Association. In 2000, the Banner acquired the publishing rights to the (Provincetown) Advocate and the Wellfleet Advocate; the Provincetown Banner and the Advocate are now published as one combined paper.
The Banner is not only defined by the caring and inclusiveness, the historic and current artistic energy, the fragile environmental beauty and the verve of its community, it’s also defined by the enthusiasm and participation of its readers. Quickly becoming the leading newspaper in the area, we have garnered
